Case Study #5
Designing SCM operations for the retail business of a significant Indian Broadband player
Background
- A significant pan-Indian wire-line Broadband player
- Key problems relating to network maintenance / rollout SKUs
- Un-controlled high cost of network related SKUs’ usage – no information on extent / validity of usage
- Frequent inventory short-falls at warehouse -> uncontrolled end-customer rollout turn-around times
Issues
Process
- Rollout by third-party channels, but no Business Processes defined in tiered channels beyond the warehouse
- Absence of any KRAs south of regional warehouse
- Absence of any inventory management reporting, reconciliation processes south of regional warehouse
Applications
- Current SAP system did not cater to third party inventory / process – hence manual / non-standard record keeping
MQ Approach
- Redesign of end-to-end SCM processes, for the extended organization
- Building of clear Reporting & Control mechanisms across processes and entities, to measure KRAs and Process Compliance
- Complete URS definition for a new Channel Logistics System, linked to the current core SAP system – to support the end-to-end processes
- Currently Phase 1 Manual processes of end to end processes in progress.
- Phase 2 System based implementation, to be undertaken post application development & acceptance
Key Outputs
An extended enterprise Operations Blue-print to serve the third-party business model.
